In recent years there has been a fundamental shift in the way that many winegrowers think about and make their wines. In many ways this is a return to older methods, but the hype around it feels very modern.
The emphasis is on sustainable farming coupled with minimal inputs or interventions in the cellar, avoiding added yeasts, sugars, acids and preservatives. On paper, what’s not to like? However, whilst the best wines have a purity and liveliness to them, some badly made examples have lead many critics to dismiss the movement out of hand.
